DOES FAST CUTTING = PRODUCTIVITY?
2011-11-14 16:11:31

In the sawing industry the question most often asked is “How quickly can I cut this”.
While performance of a machine and blade is important it becomes irrelevant if the cut component cannot be removed quickly.
Therefore material handling can be as critical as, or more critical than the actual sawing process itself.

Ask yourself two questions:
After a stock bar has been processed how long does it take to load and start processing the next stock bar?

If you take 30 minutes to saw a component and then have to wait 10 minutes for a forklift/crane to remove it are you efficient?

Sawing specialist Prosaw Limited have been supplying high performance bandsaws to the UK Industry for 50 Years and have developed a design and manufacturing division to provide a solution to the problem of moving material to and from the machines.
From basic input and output conveyors to fully automated handling systems. Prosaw are happy to give free help and advice to companies on how to improve their production, whether  with new or their existing machines.

Prosaw Limited and KR Saws presents: A Sawing Seminar
2011-11-14 15:27:17

Sawing Seminar
Stainless Steel & Nickel based alloys
An improved Understanding
(One day Seminar)
Tuesday 15th November 2011
Wednesday 16th November 2011

Venue – Prosaw Ltd, Telford Way, Kettering, NN16 8UN

An expert update in association with Prosaw Limited, BSSA, Carbon Footprint.

Stainless Steel & Nickel Based Alloy Sawing - An improved understanding.
Manufacturing industry is going through a very challenging period, so reduction of costs through improvements to productivity will continue to be vital. If companies are to emerge from recession in good shape then it is desirable for them to maintain or improve competitiveness through improved efficiency rather than by slashing margins.

“What have you changed in your sawing process in the last 5 years??”
The seminar will update on new saw blade cutting technology, with actual machine demonstrations to show new possibilities when cutting the Nickel alloy range.

Workshop Objectives
·         To provide a better understanding of the machining difficulties within the stainless steel and Nickel based alloys.
·         To introduce and demonstrate new tooling developments relative to nickel alloys.
·         To provide a better understanding of the true costs involved in the sawing operation.
·         To demonstrate real cost benefits and a new approach to nickel alloy sawing.
·         To challenge historical sawing parameters with a better understanding of the tool and machine.
Benefits of Attending
·         Understanding how to avoid the pitfalls in the stainless and nickel alloy sawing process.
·         Cost reduction opportunities through better practice and new technology
·         Access to world wide data base of nickel alloy cutting scenarios.
·         Specific solutions to individual company improvement objectives.

Who should attend?

This workshop will be of value to those involved with stainless steel and nickel alloy sawing. Especially engineers, production managers and business owners who are responsible for sawing process controls and costs.
There is no charge for the seminar and visitors are welcome to send their own material for test cuts.

Yours Sincerely

Prosaw exhibit at the SPE Offshore Europe show
2011-08-31 16:41:36

Largest ever exhibition at SPE Offshore Europe

Prosaw are pleased to show support to the Offshore, Oil and Gas Industry by exhibiting at this years Offshore Europe 2011 in Aberdeen.

Held every two years, the Offshore Europe conference and exhibition attracts a large global audience of people and companies operating within the industry.

Prosaw will be exhibiting the state of the art high performance Danobat CP520AF automatic bandsaw. This bandsaw is equipped with the unique paso paso control system which virtually eliminates operator input into the sawing process by simply inputting the material size and specification the Danobat will automatically set its own parameters in terms of speeds and feeds, which ensures not only maximum performance but also perhaps as importantly in these times of ever increasing overheads, optimising blade life.

Please visit Prosaw on stand 4B183 where we can give you information on the largest range of bandsaws and circular saws in the UK, from basic manual machines to semi automatic and high performance fully automatic machines along with special purpose machines and handling systems.

Offshore Europe will be held in Aberdeen from the 6th to the 8th of September 2011 at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre.

If you would like to book a specific meeting time at the show, or for any further information please contact us on either +44 (0) 1536 410999 or by emailing sales@prosaw.co.uk

Special Purpose Saws and Handling
2011-03-24 09:49:06

SPECIAL PURPOSE SAWS
SPECIAL PURPOSE MACHINES

Handling systems and machines designed and built in the UK.

Prosaw have seen a big increase in enquiries for and sales of special purpose handling systems and special purpose machines over the last two years. While special purpose handling has always been a large part of Prosaw’s success for several years, more and more customers are looking to increase production by becoming more efficient and are looking at material handling to achieve this.

Traditionally when an increase in production is needed, companies would look at the purchase of additional sawing machines when a dedicated handling system with their existing saws can often increase productivity significantly more than a new saw will.

Simply by getting material to the saw efficiently and getting material away from the saw after it has been cut, can mean dramatic increases in production. Prosaw offer a no cost evaluation of your existing facility and will submit a no commitment proposal on how to increase your production without buying a new saw.

Mitre Cutting Bandsaws
2010-11-26 22:54:07

Choosing a bandsaw seems a simple procedure with the obvious question being “what capacity bandsaw do I need?”

There are, however, a lot of questions that dictate a particular band saw is suited to your application.

Do you wish to carry out mitre cuts? If so then the choice of bandsaw has to be more specific.

Do you need to mitre cut in one direction or do you need to mitre cut in two directions (i.e. both left and right)?

What is the maximum your bandsaw needs to mitre i.e. 45° or 60°?

Do you need a manual bandsaw or a semi automatic bandsaw?

With a manual band saw the operator has to tighten the vices manually and lift the band saw bow after each cut has been completed.

With a semi automatic bandsaw, the clamping vices are usually hydraulically operated and the bandsaw blade is raised automatically after each cut.

For repeated operation or with a large capacity bandsaw, a semi automatic machine is a distinct advantage.

There is also the choice between a pivot action bandsaw or a twin column bandsaw.

The pivot action band saw is usually less expensive than a twin column machine but for heavy duty or production applications, the twin column band saw is usually more efficient.

How often will the mitre angle of the cut be changed? Many standard mitre cutting bandsaws have the mitre angle set by a pointer and scale but if the miter angle is to be frequently changed, then a digital readout for the miter position can be a distinct advantage.

A simple talk with Prosaw can answer all of these questions and often the most cost effective and suitable mitre cutting bandsaw for your specific application.
